Lilly Pulitzer golf wear started off, oddly enough, being sold in a juice stand in Palm Beach, Florida, in the 1950s. A New York socialite who married Florida citrus grove owner Peter Pulitzer, Lilly opened a juice stand to occupy her time and energy. When she asked a dressmaker to design an outfit that would help hide those ugly juice stains, customers began to notice her outfit. She soon began selling some of these dresses in her stand.
