WIGI - Member Newsletter Five
Dear WIGI Members - It's June newsletter time...
But first a word from our first sponsor: Looking for new, exciting product lines?
Expect to be Inspired.
Register today! This message and sponsorship of one of our functions at our first WIGI Annual Meeting in Pinehurst, courtesy of WIGI Member E. Gail Billingsley, Director of Marketing, PGA Worldwide Golf Exhibitions. Thank you, Gail! As a reminder the PGA Fall Expo will really be held during the summer first days of August. If you have questions, please contact Gail. Save the dates November 10-12 for the first annual Women in The Golf Industry meeting at Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina. Nearest airport: Raleigh-Durham. Airlines that serve include Southwest and American. Check your favorites or drive. Info on pricing, etc. will be coming soon. Pinehurst has offered us great deals, but some of you may find it smart to pair up and reduce the room rate. That's entirely up to you. Details later this month. Rooms must be reserved by September 1st, so don't let the time slip by. Just remember, whatever we do will be more than women in our industry have done before. This is a wonderful, first-class way to make a start. And if you happen to have a husband or significant other who thinks the idea of going to Pinehurst will be a great opportunity for golf -- well - it's Pinehurst. Golf will be played and courses abound. Forms will be emailed to you - worst case - next week Tuesday ( June 18). Alyson Ramsey, Program Chairperson, and Tiare Peck, Meeting Chairperson, will have a wonderful experience planned for you, I am certain! Take this opportunity to network before the winter resort and selling season. Several more members have offered to serve as Chairpersons: Lynn Hannula will be Directory Chairperson. She has asked for each member to send her a 35- word or less ( I know it's hard) summary of their business or service so that she can put that with names, addresses, emails and phone numbers. Lynn has also asked to have this information passed on: Golf is best played by the Rules; and it's never too late to get golfers started on another good habit! What is the Ruling?! provides a challenging & enjoyable format -- questions-and-answers on the Rules of Golf presented daily. Please see What Is The Ruling.Com. View that as the kind of information you could put next to your name in the directory. Alex Solomon, a new member, will be Travel Chairperson. In addition to looking for great deals for WIGI members who want to take special vacations, she may be contacting you to see if you want to offer some kind of special deal to members. No hard time. It's up to you. She will not limit opportunities to current membership. Who knows what groups or businesses will want to make us special offers? I have received copies of Rosemary Johns' publication Ladies Golf Journey from several members, and those of you who want to subscribe might give Rosemary an email to find out how to do that. Again - our committee chairs are: Tiare Bevan Peck, Director of Communications for the World Golf Hall of Fame will head up the Meeting Committee. Rosemary Johnson will give Tiare some assistance. Alyson Ramsey of the New Jersey State Golf Association is going to head up the Program Committee. Janis Self of PGA Tour Radio is in charge of the golf outing., and whatever shape or form it takes, Janis will be in charge.. Karen Can'trell of Lady Golf will handle the Fashion Committee.
Cathy Arbalo and Patricia Turman will be in charge of the Equipment Committee. Lynn Hannula - one of our rules experts - will track everybody down with the directory. Fall Expo: As many of you know the Fall Expo has been moved from Las Vegas to Reno. Those who are planning to attend might want to carve out a time to get together and say hello. Gail Billingsley from Reed will allow us to have a place in the Association area. Members who know they will be going can email me, and I'll put the full list together in the next newsletter so that you will know who to look for in Nevada. If someone is interested in keeping WIGI memberhsip applications or how to contact info in their booth, please let me know. We still need chairpersons for Membership, Historian, Telephone, Parliamentarian, Communications and Awards. The Parliamentarian will definitely be needed at the Annual Meeting. I know we have experts in these areas. ( I know it's not me!) Please welcome newcomers who have joined since the last newsletter: They have been added to the updated WIGI directory which will -- after this month - be updated by Lynn Hannula, so please send changes or corrections to her. (One member asked if the founders could be listed in the alphabetical portion of the directory, so I have done that and also left the list at the end.) Please welcome our newest members:
Merrill Berge, National Sales Manger of Gloves by Design. From Ventura, CA.
Good News: Suzie Reis company, Golf Datatech, is constantly reporting industry facts and figures on sales of golf equipment. Happy Birthday to: Lisa Schmidt, June 12; Lisa Weistart, July 2nd; Chris Jones, July 5. If we've missed your birthday, if may be that you didn¿t fill out the membership form, so get us that information, and we'll give you a birthday salute. Please remember to contact your friends and colleagues who might like to become a part of our networking group. And, if you have a question or need help with something in your business, think WIGI. That's the reason we've formed. Kathy Bissell for WIGI |
