WIGI - Member Newsletter Two
Dear WIGI Members Two emails are being sent today. If you receive a WIGI Member Directory and this update, then your check has been received. If you have not received both, then a check isn't here yet or you're undecided, but we haven't mailed tomorrow now that I have the addressed in a form that can go to labels.
Please give a big WIGI welcome to newcomers who have joined since the PGA Show. If you are on this list, then you will also receive the earlier newsletter with information on members who were in the first group to join. I suggest that you make a folder electronic or paper of the members and their occupations/ businesses in case you need to know something that is a specialty of a new member. You never know
And I do have to apologize.
From the Arnold Palmer Design Company:
I have to admit that these ladies work just down the road and I paid them a visit last week to drop off their membership cards and say hello and give a World Wide Aquatics Catalog to Stacy who I see in the swimming pool on a regular basis.
Jacki Pope, a Sales Representative Tour Edge on the West Coast.
MaryJo Burke -- owns a retail operation called Chix with Stix, and you should see her logo pin. It is really something special. MaryJo is an avid golfer and has found the networking in women's groups helpful for her business. You have to keep track of her, though. She's in Florida in the winter and Minnesota in the summer.
Debbie O'Connell-- Head Golf Professional, Island Dunes Country Club in Jensen Beach, FL. Debbie also has a weekly radio program and she called to ask me to be a guest to talk about WIGI. We thank her for that. She and several of her lady members are getting ready to take a special island-hopping golf trip.
Diane Haworth --General Manager, Sandpines Golf on The Oregon Dunes Karen Can'trell President of Lady Golf, a women's retail chain ( four stores and growing) in the Palm Springs, CA area. Terry Gamer handed out membership information at the Golf Course Superintendents Show in Orlando and then at another golf trade show in Texas. I'm sure she's glad to finally get back to Connecticut. If you are looking for a bang up yardage guide, get in touch. I saw one of her new ones at the PGA Show and it is awesome. Pat Baldwin has come up with bylaws which the founders are reviewing, and she is sending Articles of Association, which apparently we need. As Pat and I said to each other, the Golf Writers Association doesn't have this stuff, why do we need it? Red tape. What can we say. From our various discussions with different groups, it looks like there are many people interested in having a tournament and in golf travel. Many others are interested in ways to make their businesses more successfulL.
So perhaps some of the more tournament knowledgeable and/or better players would like to email each other to think about an annual event.
Helen Casey, who used to give business women's seminars in Chicago, said that she would do one on How to Work a Room at a business or social function. She said she will bet that she can get through a room and meet more people than anybody else you know. Don't bet against her! That's all I can say. She's almost recovered from papering the PGA Show with membership material, and just finished the ACE Classic in Naples where she, too, was handing out information.
Happy Birthday to MaryJo Burke, Feb 3; Please remember to contact your friends and colleagues who might like to become a part of our networking group. Remember, if you have a question or need help with something in your business, think WIGI. That's the reason we've formed. Kathy Bissell for WIGI |
